Our Story
Ottawa AI Learning Community was founded by researchers from the National Research Council of Canada (NRC), University of Ottawa, and Carleton University who recognized a critical need: the National Capital Region's exceptional AI research and expertise was not sufficiently visible or connected.
These founding researchers understood that breakthrough innovation happens at the intersection of academia, industry, and the public sector. They envisioned a dedicated hub—a scientific society for AI and machine learning—that would bring together the region's brightest minds, foster meaningful collaborations, and elevate the visibility of local AI research on a national and international stage.
